I realize it’s still officially summer, my fellow Beer Drinkers. And sure, we want to hold on to every last ounce of it before the temperatures drop and we’re forced indoors more and more.
But I’m always pretty enthused at the end of August when I see the first 12 packs of Sam Adams Octoberfest arrive at my local grocery store. I was at Hannaford on Islingston Street the other day picking up a few items so I could entertain a special lady friend coming to town and noticed some whopping stacks of 12 pack boxes on sale for $11.99.
I didn’t know if my special company would like the stuff, so I opted for a variety pack of Long Trail, which worked out just fine. But while we were talking, she brought up what a huge fan she was of Octoberfest. Go figure. Needless to say, whatever we end up doing this weekend, one of those 12 packs are coming with us.

But, really, does one want to have a special lady friend who doesn’t appreciate the subtleties of an Octoberfest?
C’mon, Beer Drinker. Why you gotta go bringing up October already? It’s too early for me to start thinking about cold nights drinking beer at State Street Saloon. Besides, I’m still enjoying the Sam Summer. Although I did notice some sort of blackberry flavored Sam at a package store the other day. What’s up with that?

A package store? Are you a Mass—-, Mr. X?
Nope, I’m not a Masshole (it’s OK, you can curse on this blog). But damn, I did just drop another bread crumb. I gots to be more careful.
